City of Cape Town Bylaw Project

In phase 1, this  project  analysed waste minimisation strategies and determined the direct costs and associated benefits of the proposed City of Cape Town Integrated Waste Management (IWM) By-law under development by the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Department. The next phase of this project will  model tariff and rates implications of waste minimisation.  The proposed By-law gives effect to the Council’s IWM Policy that was adopted in May 2006, which follows national policy and waste management legislation.
