Urszula Rust - Principles for mainstreaming gender equality in the South African rural water services sector. Thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the Mphi in Sustainable Development Planning and Management, December 2007. This thesis analyses the role of women in the provision of rural water services and finds that gender roles are reinforced rather than transformed. She recommends principles and guidelines that if adopted will contribute to changes in rural water service delivery practices that will transform rather than reinforce current gender relations and roles.
